As Vagabond enters the final, fans are excited to see the fateful battle between Musashi and Kojiro. However, after patiently waiting, the dues did not come. The series is currently on an extended hiatus, with the latest chapter, Chapter 327 “The Man Named Tadoki”, released in May, 2015. It’s already been 5 years since the series went on hiatus/break and readers are wondering when Inoue Vagabond will return with chapter 328. Let us first talk about the circumstances that led to such a long hiatus.

The series suffered several hiatuses throughout its run, mainly due to Inoue’a health issues. Over a decade of continuous work on a weekly release basis took a toll on his physical and mental health, leading to a 2-year hiatus in 2010. In an interview with CNN, Inoue claimed that he was only getting a 2-. Sleeping 4 hours to meet his deadline is a sad truth of the manga industry.

“Well, in terms of what I want to do: like I said before, I don’t have any desire to work on it right now, but if I don’t work on it, I’m going to have a problem down the road, and that’s basically what drives me until I take a break. I don’t think that’s a good way to go about it. I am willing to draw it because my hope is to stay away from Vagabond until all those unnecessary worries and emotions are gone and I want to draw it. However, I am not sure if I will be allowed to wait that long.”

I feel like this hiatus is the death of me as an artist, which sounds like a very dramatic way of saying it, I realize, but there’s a lot of baggage I’ve been dragging around for a long time and I know it. If I give up all that, I will become a good artist. Once I get back to that innocent state, the manga I make will be many times better than what I can do now, I’m sure. If I go back to work on it sooner, I’ll do it all over again. I mean, I suppose I can get something polite out of a sense of professional duty- but it’s probably not the best. But really, the fact that I’m still talking about making it “the best” is a sign that I’m still carrying around that baggage. Anyway, I’m not touching Vagabond at the moment because I think I’ll eventually be able to produce something that feels right to me.

Eighteen months later, Vagabond returned to Weekly Morning as a monthly series in March 2012, but saw a decline in manga quality. His ultra-detailed drawing is replaced by a more minimalistic art style. This was most evident in Vagabond’s infamous, farming arc. It then went on another hiatus in February 2014, which was only supposed to last for four months, but lasted until January 2015 and the series went on hiatus once again in May 2015 and that brings us back to today.

Decided To Show My Support For One Of My Favorite Author

Inoue last spoke about Vagabond in an interview in 2015. When asked if he had any idea when the series would end, Inoue responded:

“A few years ago I said Vagabond would end soon, but… I’m sorry (laughs). Manga is an organism that grows with characters, I never know its final destination and evolution, so I can’t say when it will end.

Real is a sports manga that focuses on disabled basketball players and began serialization in 1999, a year after Vagabond began. There were times when Inoue worked on both manga simultaneously and times when he took a break to work on Real. It also experienced its fair share of hiatus and went on an indefinite hiatus from 2014 and returned in August 2019.

Inoue was completely burned out from drawing two manga simultaneously in the hellish work schedule the industry offered and decided to take a break to focus on his life, health and his love for basketball. But with Real back this year, is it time we can expect Vagabond’s big return with its next chapter? Report this ad

Will Vagabond ever take a break? This is the question that everyone has been asking since last five years. Inoue has definitely improved a lot over the past few years. He has been very active on Twitter recently and has been continuously releasing new chapters of Real since last year. So with a real comeback from a 4 year long hiatus, Inoue will surely return one day, ending the legendary tail of the greatest samurai the enemy has ever known.

Inoue is no quitter, just like his characters, and he shows this time and time again through his passion for drawing his characters to the utmost perfection. Even after taking several breaks in the past, he always came back. So let’s hope he does it again with Vagabond, one day, stronger than ever!

Growing up in 17th century Sengoku era Japan, Shinmen Takejou is shunned by the local villagers as a demon child due to his cruel and violent nature. However, the Tokugawas achieved crushing success, leading to nearly three hundred years of shogunate rule.
