Tours Resume At The Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant

In 1981, General Motors moved Chevrolet Corvette production from St. Louis to 600 Corvette Drive, Bowling Green, KY. Known as “America’s Sports Car,” a factory tour allows visitors to see the icon in the making. The Corvette is the world’s longest-running, continuously produced passenger car, with more than 1.75 million produced. GM’s site is 212 acres and the plant has 1.7 million square feet of floor space – the equivalent of 39 acres or 29.5 football fields under the roof.

Initially, plant tours were suspended in 2017 due to plant improvements and significant changes to the facility layout. The Covid pandemic has further delayed crop tours. “We’ve been waiting for this day for what seems like forever,” said Kai Spande, director of the General Motors Bowling Green assembly plant and chairman of the board of the National Corvette Museum. “It’s a moment of great pride that our workforce can share what it takes to build an American sports car. We can’t wait to welcome back Corvette customers, enthusiasts and friends for a tour of our factory.

Advanced reservations are recommended. Some walking tours may be available, but are not guaranteed on the day of the tour. For more information about plant tours, visit corvettemuseum.org or subscribe to the newsletter below for more updates!

Even though the Corvette assembly plant is closing, Jack Cooper Transportation will continue to transport 2022 Corvettes that have already been built and are waiting to be shipped to dealers.

Due to part time restrictions, the Bowling Green Assembly will be closed for first and second shifts next week (the week of March 21st). Our supply chain, manufacturing and engineering teams are working closely with suppliers to minimize the impact on production and we expect to resume operations the week of March 28.

Additionally, Chevrolet is currently experiencing significant supply constraints for the mechanical parts for the Stingray (not equipped with the Z51) in the final distribution of the 2022 Corvette Stingray model year.

We understand that this will cause additional challenges for you, your employees and our customers with existing sales orders. We know our teams are working hard to ease these temporary restrictions.

In the meantime, please work with affected customers to properly guide them on the status of their order.

If you order the Z51 Performance Package, customers affected by mechanical component limitations for the Stingray can:
