When Does Mlb Resume After All Star Break
When Does Mlb Resume After All Star Break – Luis Arraez and Byron Buxton will head to Los Angeles next week, but Correa and the rest of the Twins will take the opportunity to rest and reset.
While Luis Arraez and Byron Buxton flew to Hollywood to play in Tuesday’s game, Correa will stay closer to home.

“I have my son and he’s learning everything, every day something new,” Correa said of 7-month-old Kyle. “So I’m going to spend that time with him…which is important to me.”

Through Sunday, the Twins had played the most games in the American League, tied with the Cardinals and Nationals for most in the majors at 88. By comparison, the Rangers and Guardians, who are second to the Twins in the American League Central, had played the fewest at 83 each.
Keeping up with this busy start to the year means Geminis have plenty of days off in July – nine to be exact. The Twins were off last Thursday after the road series against the White Sox and were also off Monday after the game against the Rangers. They’ll face the Brewers and White Sox at home Tuesday through Sunday before anyone not named Arraez or Buxton gets five days before games for the All-Star break. Then there are two days off between road series in Detroit, Milwaukee and San Diego to close out the month.
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said that while he was pleased with how his team has handled its season opener — 48-40 and a four-game lead in the division — it was tough and not ideal.
“Now we have another kind of unique number of days off that we have in July, which is not normal. It’s not typical of anything we deal with,” Baldelli said. “… Now we’ve got to find ways to stay sharp as opposed to finding ways to keep guys around and get them through a series of games.”

Baldelli specifically pointed out that the bull needs a few days to regroup. Relievers have struggled at several spots thus far and have a combined ERA of 3.78 with just 19 saves in 36 chances. With everyone rested, Baldelli will have plenty of weapons at his disposal when the season resumes on July 23 against Detroit after the All-Star break.
It’s a bit more difficult for position players. No doubt some could use the time off, such as Jorge Polanco with a sore back and Buxton with tendinitis in his right knee. But this comes at the expense of consistent batsmen. Buxton and Arraez will trade some days off for some innings in the All-Star game. There is a possibility that others will join them.
“We should definitely have a few more,” reliever Tyler Duffey said. “Voting is what it is. There’s definitely still some opportunities for other guys to get involved.”
There has been talk of being All-Stars around a few other Twins players. Rookie Jhoan Duran and his 103 mph fastball was one of them, as was Correa with his stunning defense and solid hitting.
Bryce Harper Voted To First All Star Game With The Phillies
Correa was an All-Star with the Astros in 2017 and 2021. He said that such personal recognitions are excellent, as they confirm the individual’s efforts, but he himself is more focused on team victories.
“I feel like my first half was pretty good and I’m happy where we are, we’re in first place. So this is the job I came here for,” Correa said. “I didn’t sign with the Minnesota Twins to try to become an All-Star. I came here to try to help this team, one, win the division and two, get all the way to the World Series.”
So Correa wouldn’t be too upset about not being a 2022 All-Star for a handful of reasons. He spent his last day off in Dallas at the aquarium with his son and wife Daniella. The Marvel movie fan also went to the cinema to watch the just released movie “Thor: Love and Thunder”. And the days without baseball to come are likely to include even more of that.
“July is the time of year when the body starts to break down, and days off are great,” Correa said. “You reset on a break and then you’re back there for another three months.”

The United States is quickly establishing itself as a stellar defensive team, using its athleticism to make it difficult for opponents to score.
Mlb Postpones Opening Day Again Amid Lockout
So much for Mookie Betts having an off night. The Los Angeles Dodgers needed his bat in the ninth inning and their All-Star was big off the bench. The Major League Baseball All-Star break is upon us. After a full slate of games last Sunday, the MLB regular schedule doesn’t resume until Friday. Most players in the league get four days off between games, while the stars participating in Tuesday’s exhibition will also have two full days before taking the field again. In a long and grueling 162-game season, this is the only time players have back-to-back days off.
Teams use this time to rest, recover and regroup. Last year’s World Series champions are a prime example. From Cliff Corcoran of Sports on Earth:
“Exactly one year ago, the Chicago Cubs, a team that looked like an unstoppable force for the first three months of the season and would win the franchise’s first World Series in 108 years, limped into the All-Star Game. a break Entering the final Sunday before the break, the Cubs had lost five straight, nine of their last 10 and 15 of their last 20. The All-Star break couldn’t come soon enough for them, but when it did, Chicago was able to take advantage of the four-day break. for a new beginning. Coming off the break, the Cubs started 9-6 before snapping an 11-game winning streak and going 50-23 (.685) overall in the second half.”
The Cubs will once again look to capitalize on the midseason hiatus as they head into the second half (they’ve technically played 54% of their season) with a disappointing 43-45 record.
Carlos Rodon Cements All Star Resume With Phenomenal Complete Game Vs. Padres
Similarly, the New York Yankees (45-41) can use the time off to get a fresh start. After building a four-game lead in the American League East in mid-June, New York has dropped 17 of its last 24 contests to fall 3.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox (50-39) for second place in the division. .
While regular players no doubt appreciate the opportunity to rest, the All-Star break may be the most beneficial for rookies. Check out Red Sox ace Chris Sale’s recent workload:
On July 1, Sale threw a season-high 116 pitches over seven innings in a 7–1 win at Toronto. Five days later, on Thursday, July 6, he threw 113 pitches (the third most in a game this year) during another seventh inning in a 4–1 loss at Tampa. The 229 combined strikeouts were his most in back-to-back starts since joining the Red Sox, and the four earned runs Sale gave up last Thursday were the most he’s given up in any start since May — clearly he’d benefit something extra Rest time.
Sale, who is 11-4 with a 2.75 earned run average and an MLB-best 178 strikeouts, was named an American League All-Star starter. He’s coming in on his normal day in the rotation, but he’ll be limited to just an inning or two and likely won’t throw more than 30-40 pitches. He won’t make another full start until Saturday, July 15.

Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers is another great example. With a 14–2 record, 2.18 ERA and 158 strikeouts, Kershaw may be on his way to a fourth career Cy Young Award. However, he won’t take the mound in Tuesday’s All-Star Game because he pitched just two days earlier.
A back injury limited Kershaw to just 149 innings last year, but he’s already thrown 123.1 innings this season. The first-place Dodgers (lead the National League West 61-29) can use the break to give Kershaw more time off:

Los Angeles has made resting its pitchers a true art form this year. A rule change implemented last offseason reduced the minimum length of time a player can be on the disabled list from 15 days to 10 days. This gave teams the ability to potentially put healthy pitchers on the DL for rest while giving them only one start.
