Many of the casting websites will do it for you, but most importantly, you need a version that you can send yourself at a moment’s notice. A poorly designed CV says that you are not serious about your career. I will tell you the right way so that you can present yourself as a professional, especially when you send this CV to agents and casting directors.

Start with your name. Do not include the word ‘resume’ at the top of the document; your name will suffice as a title. This should be your stage name, not your real name.
Include the name of the union you are affiliated with under your name. If you are not affiliated with a union, please do not include anything here.
Under the name of the trade union, enter your telephone number, including the area code. You can also add your email address if you want.

Then move on to your physical details. Ideally, the physical details should be included in one neat line, below your contact information. Physical details extend to height, weight, hair and eye color. You should not include any other physical information.

If you are an experienced actor, this is where you show off your career highlights, whether it’s starring in box office hits in Los Angeles or local theaters in your hometown.
Your acting experience should be divided into three parts: film, television and theater. Of course, if you don’t have experience in one or more of these spheres, just focus on the spheres in which you have experience.

Ideally, you should prepare a different CV for each of these three branches of the acting profession. For example, if you have acted in Hollywood films, sitcoms and West End theater performances, you should create three CVs, respectively focusing on all three.

Presenting your television credits should follow a similar format to that of film. Include the name of the television show, followed by your role, the name of the network and the name of the director.
As with film and television, list the name of the show and your role/character name. Then record the theater company and the production location. It is not necessary to include the name of the director, unless the director is a recognized leader in the theater world and attention to him/her can add value to your resume.
