Army Rotc Scholarship Resume
Army Rotc Scholarship Resume – Changing careers takes courage. And veterans know a thing or two about courage. But when soldiers finish serving their country and look to re-enter civilian life, they need more than strong nerves to make the transition to a new job. Finding a job requires practical strategies.
For veterans, the struggle is often to match the skills and experience they gained in the military with the kinds of jobs that exist outside of the military. Additionally, long-serving veterans don’t have much experience rebuilding.

Don’t worry. This post is about helping those who have served in the armed forces create a resume when applying for civilian positions.

We like to bring insights from employers to the products and resources we offer. So, after talking to employers about their experiences hiring veterans, we’ve focused this post on the following areas:
Remember that there are many other factors to consider when making a resume. So be sure to also see our guide on how to create a profile in 2019.
There are three different resume formats that are used for resumes. For veterans, the most appropriate option is the so-called “career” or “skills-based” profile structure.
Why this? Actually the logic behind the practical format is that it gives more attention to the skills that one has developed. This differs from the “chronological” resume format, which provides more space for a person to describe a long employment history to show career progression.

Many veterans have spent most of their working lives in the military, so their employment history is a single employer – even if they’ve moved through different roles or positions.
As it is, listing all the positions and responsibilities on top of a military career is often not the best strategy to convince employers in the public or private sector.
This is because employers are often unfamiliar with the types of jobs that military personnel perform, and therefore may not see the relevance of military experience.
To avoid this problem, veterans should focus less on describing their previous roles/responsibilities, and instead focus on highlighting the skills they acquired that are directly relevant to the position they are seeking.

On March 28, 1979, a tourist plane crashed into a mountain in Antarctica, killing all 279 people on board. Investigations revealed that the crew had not been notified of a two-degree correction made to the flight path the night before, causing the plane’s navigation system to direct them toward Mount Erebus instead of through McMurdo Sound.
That’s why pilots are taught the 1 in 60 rule, which states that after 60 miles, a one degree error in heading will cause a deviation of one mile.
Remember the 1 in 60 rule is not just a navigational aid; is a mental framework designed to emphasize the importance of regular course evaluation and revision.
We all have dreams. People who make their dreams come true aren’t just dreams, though. They create processes. They build systems. They establish routines that keep them in shape and ensure they reach their ultimate goal.

Strangely, they do not focus on their goals. They are very focused on their processes because greatness comes partly from inspiration but mostly from consistent and relentless effort.
The further you start, the more you will end up there. That is why setting a specific goal is so important.
Say you want to get in better shape and be healthier. “Being healthy” sounds good, but it’s not very clear. How will you know when you are “in better shape,” or even “healthier”?
“Lose 10 pounds in 30 days” is a specific, targeted and most importantly, measurable goal. You know what you want to accomplish, which means you can create a process designed to get you there. You can create a solid diet plan. You can create a suitable exercise plan.

Or say you want to grow your business. “Increase income” sounds good but it’s very vague. “Get five new customers this month” is specific, objective and measurable. You know what you want to accomplish, which means you can create a process designed to get you there.
, where one day you hope to be. If you only made $10,000 in sales last month and your goal is $1 million in sales per month, the distance between here and there seems insurmountable.
That’s one reason why so many amazingly successful people have a goal.
Health care providers are taught to triple check drugs before giving them to patients. Not because the process itself is complicated.

So it is with you; the consequences of a “mistake,” in terms of time, effort, money, etc., when you fail to achieve a goal can be huge. (And sad: No matter how many times you hear “fail fast, fail often,” failure is still pretty bad.)
Pilots use the 1 in 60 rule to remind themselves to regularly monitor their progress and make quick course corrections.
You also know where you want to go. But you’ll never get there if you don’t regularly monitor and adjust your plan based on your progress.
And if you don’t start the right way, remember, the 1 in 60 rule says that to start, one degree down means one mile off 60 miles later.

I had the opportunity to meet and connect with many champions of change. In the 5th grade, I received private music lessons from Arthur C. Bartner, the legendary band director of the USC Trojan Marching Band, who influenced musicians for 50 years. In the 6th grade, I had the opportunity to meet the famous American actor- Bahamas and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, Sidney Poitier, who was instrumental in diversifying Hollywood and paving the way for Black actors. By the time I was in high school, I had spent my afternoons in the presence of African American Mayor Tom Bradley of Los Angeles, who influenced two generations of policymakers and leaders. I attended Hollywood High School surrounded by entertainment giants, and my undergraduate alma mater is home to the “Long Gray Line,” where many past, present and future world leaders and business rise.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t until I heard Zig Ziglar say, “You can have anything you want in life if you help enough other people to get what they want,” that I began to understand the importance of relationships. I read it

It says, “the ability of a leader is determined by those around him.” In this day of strategic cooperation and powerful networks, it is absolutely impossible to have long-term success without the skills of international relations, including in social networks.
